week 1

ready? set. go!

My internship officially started! Yey! The first week went under the idea of an easy and slow start. Time to recollect this exciting new beginning and what happened during the start of the internship at the Holme Group.

The first week was an easy start to the internship. The first thing to approach was to learn more about how the company functions and start with my tasks. And because the developer for the company is still on holidays I started with graphical work.

My first task was to do competitor research and redesign a segment for the company’s main estore – Fashiongirl. Specifically the segment on the main page with all the categories. The task was to redesign the look of it, make it more modern and consistent, and give it a new look.

I started with competitor research of what other estores are doing for their category segments. After having some ideas I mocked them up in Figma and started to code the grid. Meantime I also needed to find appropriate images for the categories and edit them in Photoshop to look consistent. This task is not fully finished and I will need to finish coding it into the grid on Monday, using HTML and CSS as it needs to be compatible with the services they are using at the moment.

Second task that I started this week was to create graphics for campaigns. I am in charge of creating new banners for the e-commerce websites as well as their email campaigns. This task will also continue next week.

I also had the opportunity to learn more about e-commerce from the backside and learn about what systems for SEO are they using, what analytical tools as well as learn more about resellers.

I’m looking forward to next week already!
