week 0

before it all begins…

Christmas time is passing fast and new year is approaching even faster and with it – the beginning of my internship. This is the perfect time to think about my goals and prepare myself for it all. What are my expectations and what do I aim for?

This blog’s purpose is to be a journal from my internship so it would be easier to recall what , how and when for the report writing. So I thought to myself, why not start with a few expectations and goals that I can look at to remind myself where I am starting and what to focus on when the time comes.

My goals for this internship are as follows:

  • Improvement of my front-end knowledge
  • Exploration of back-end programming and learning basics of PHP and MySQL
  • Learning to create e-commerce website
  • Improvement of organizational work-flow and professionalism when come to code-writing
  • Optimization of web pages and making them mobile friendly

I feel like the goals are ambitious and I realize that some might not be fully fulfilled during the internship. As much as I am interested in back-end programming and would love to be a full-stack developer I am not sure how deep I will be able to go into it. But I am excited for the opportunity. I feel lucky I get to tackle all the subjects I’m really interested in and even get to gain new knowledge that I didn’t touch during my studies so far.

When talking with the contact person for my internship – Kristian, I was told that there are a lot of projects available and I will be able to choose which one to tackle first or which one to focus on. I know about myself that I work the best under pressure and with deadlines and thrive when working with new challenges so this really excites me. Being busy is something I enjoy and look forward to.

Meanwhile, I am preparing myself for the internship with some LinkedIn learning courses that will help me get some basic knowledge of the subjects I have never worked before. And enjoying the Christmas holiday season.
