week 4-5

into the grind

These past two weeks came and went. I wanted to experience working for an e-commerce company and I got a taste of everyday tasks. What is important? Traffic! How do we get it? By optimizing SEO. And that was my task for those weeks.

I needed to work with the database of their product for Holme Group main webstore :  Fashiongirl, and optimize then SEO for the category pages. The shop is available in 7 different languages and they have 150 different categories. Some of the pages missed any text or images in the body of the page . Some of them missed meta titles/descriptions or keywords.

My job was to optimize it for the english version and then make it consistent across all the other languages.

This took a fair amount of hours and that is why I connected the two weeks together.

What I learned is that working with SEO is not my favorite activity. It becomes very monotonous at times and I imagined working with databases to be more programming based. But I learned a lot and am looking forward to my new task.
